Memebox 1st Anniversary Box unboxing & review

image

An Anniversary Memebox? “It has got to be like the best box everr”. Or not. I bought this thinking oh well, what company would screw up their commemorative box? So did Memebox?

Lets find out.

I notice there were only 5 products, one of which was a repeat.

I was happy to receive (randomly) the Tosowoong Bee AC Control Lotion (100ml, $15) instead of the toner. This single product almost made up for the whole box, really. I have been using it for awhile now.

image

The lotion has the key ingredients listed on it’s bottle. That’s what I am talking about. Companies should make it easier for us like that!

image

This lotion absorbs nicely into my skin and works as a daily moisturizer without making my face too oily. It is an AC control type after all. It is not scented or anything. The consistency is pretty creamy without being heavy. I think I need to jump on this bee venom/ Benton trend soon.

Remember we got the same brand from Tea Tree cosmetics box? I can’t wait to try that one after I’m done with this! Fab.

I see so much of RiRe lately and not enough hype from this brand. We get two RiRe products (or 3, considering these hair products as 2 separate entities) in this box alone.

The Hot Speed Manicure (15ml) and Cool Dr Scalp+ (10ml) are surprisingly full-sized ($11) claiming to give healthier scalp and hair. You are supposed to use the cool one as a shampoo/conditioner and then rinse. The hot manicure is like a treatment essence for before/after blow-drying.

image

This may be quite confusing, but the cooling one did nothing to me. Rating? Meh. I am rarely ever disappointed with Korean hair stuff so far though. This might be the first.

I seriously thought this pact is a cushion seeing the dent on the picture (thinking it was a sponge). Nope. The Unni Recipe Makes Your Skin Smooth Firming Pact SPF 25 PA++ (12g, $24) is a powder pact that covers while preserving its moisture and nourishes the skin with various galactomyces and lactobacillus ferments.

image

I don’t really like powder pacts especially in winter because they tend to cake when it is all dry and oily at the same time. I don’t know…I might give this a try maybe since it is in my shade (#21 Light beige). It does promise to not cake at all but who knows..

image

I feel dubious about this since it is still the dryer season but I may be keeping this for when it is warmer..

This RiRe Capsule Mask Pack (75ml, $22) is packaged like a capsule and has double cover. It is sort of like a mist/essence thing I suppose and I have gotten the Whitening type (randomly chosen from Moisture, Whitening or Anti-Aging).

image

It smells subtly floral and seems watery like a mist would be. More accurately, I think this was meant to be the essence they soak masks in. I am a fan of patting water packs (more accurately just the brand Blithe) and would give this a shot had this been the moisture type.

image

Ingredients do point to whitening and moisturizing though.

Sigh again at another whitening product (I think its just me being overloaded with whitening things at this point), the AHC Whitening Cream SPF 35 PA++ (30ml, $38). This one can be a potentially awesome sunscreen type of prouct. Unfortunately this is tailored 100% for Korean women and not everyone in the world.

image

I might give this a try, bearing in mind that it would even out skin tone and whiten darkened areas while moisturizing and acting as a sunscreen.

Okay, let’s be honest here. This most definitely isn’t what we expect of an Anniversary box. It seems more like a regular Memebox without being a total wow. I do think one or two products are interesting, but this is otherwise too bland to be iconic if you know what I mean….

✾ Memebox Tea Tree Cosmetics Box ✾

image

I could not resist a Tea Tree box because this is a must-have box for anyone especially those in their teenage years- early twenties. There is an Asian saying that if you have acne problems, you are still young! 😛

The Tea Tree cosmetics box was $27 (+$6.99 for shipping). It was advertised as follows;

If you’re prone to blemishes, oily skin, and skin’s biggest nemesis, blackheads, this Tea Tree Cosmetics Box will surely save you from your troubled skin woes! Tea tree ingredients, known for their topical antiseptic and anti-fungal properties, are the “jack of all trades” when it comes to targeting and treating blemish-prone skin. It also reduces the oil and sebum secretion on skin for the look of healthy and radiant skin, minus the embarrassing shine! Get this box to regenerate damaged skin tissue and improve the skin’s healing process for the look of clearer, and brighter skin.

Let’s see if it lives up to the expectations!

We get 6 full-sized products in this box. If you have been reading my unboxings, I usually review in order according my fav/ the most interesting products to the one I don’t really care to have.

Surprise, surprise. A Shara Shara product as my fav?! Rub your eyes twice and yes, this Shara Shara Bee Tox Spot Cream (15ml, $18) is probably one of the best in this box. It smells of herbs and grass! Yes, I love my herbs and florals alot.

image

Luckily I am not allergic to bee stuff but in case you are, look at the ingredients here.

image

I don’t have serious acne problems but I keep reaching for this tube because I’m addicted to the smell lol. Maybe a pimple or two will prove its effectiveness, but lets hope there is no need for that. I love my skin atm! ❤

The next rave-worthy product is probably the Tosowoong Tea Tree AC-control Soothing Lotion (100ml, $19). Tosowoong has been consistently delivering some pretty decent products at affordable prices. I have been using the similar lotion from another Memebox and my skin thanks me for it.

image

I was using mostly brightening and hydrating stuff, until I realized at my age these pore and AC products are more suitable. The weather is a little cray in Europe the recent years, so I have avoided products that dries out skin. Memebox has opened a whole new world of AC control stuff to me! 🙂

image

The Tea Tree VS Bee Natural Pure Lotion (Memebox Anniversary Box)
Which is your fav?
I’m definitely liking the Bee one atm. I guess it might be time I re-explore bee stuff (especially Benton).

Besides Tosowoong, another skin care brand fav is Pro You. Their creams and peel have been a hit with memefans and I would love to think the Pro You Tea Tree Oil (10ml, $24) will be well-received as well.

image

It’s such a small bottle for that price tag but yay, got it for less in a Memebox. 😛 I will find a chance to use this during cram week for sure. Not looking forward though..

I’m absolutely amazed at how many wipes and toners Memebox sent out this month. Purederm is a cheaper brand, so I didn’t place this on top of my to-try list, yet. I do think this Purederm Tea Tree Pore Freshener (170ml, $24) looks as fresh as it sounds.

But tbh wtf is a “freshner”?

image

I am assuming this is a toner-slash-makeup remover based on the description. It claims to remove makeup residues, dirt and impurities that clogged up pores.

image

The ingredients seem pretty good for trouble-prone skin so I’m saving this up until my other toner reaches half. 🙂

Whoop! More cleansing tissues. Towelettes to be more precise. The Purederm Tea-tree Make-up Remover Cleansing Towlettes ($7) came in 30 pieces/pack.

image

I think this is super convenient to use, although at home I would cleanse after using it and outside this pack of 30 would be a tad heavy. Wishing they had came in 10s instead but oh well, I’ll use this in stead of my eye and lip remover liquid.

Never heard of this brand before: D’Dell Moisture Facial mask 03 Tea Tree (23g, $7). Like any mask, this is to be left for 15-20mins before removing and patting in the essence.

The whole box was disappointing to some because we all kinda expected some LJH products but hey, I’ll make do with this one. I think the spot cream and lotion makes up for the box, although I wished this had been a $23 box. Hmmm….

If you are reading this today, Merry Christmas to you and to the rest Happy 2015 and may your year be a smooth one! 😉

Oh my god, it is the 3rd edition of the Memebox OMG!

image

Thank god for DHL’s express shipping! The Memebox OMG 3 was shipped on the 15th October and I have received it in 4 days. I bet it could have been faster if there were no weekends. 😛

Anywho, this is a theme curated to make us memefans drop our jaw, but was it anywhere near OMG? Let’s find out!

The box contains 5 products altogether. The box smells like ginseng when I opened it. Not sure if the smell came from the Makgeolli soap or platinum pack. :O

My fav item was this Migabee Bee Venom & Honey cream (50ml, $54). It is pretty heavy for a 50ml cream! The cream has no particular scent and has a taupe-white color. It absorbs upon spreading, without leaving a greasy feel. The previous bee venom product I have tried is the Secret Key one and I experienced no irritating outcomes so I am free to try this! 🙂

image

I have seen their products on various sites like Gmarket, Rakuten and their main company website. I applaud them for originality and their products feels very luxurious. The price points are also higher than some Memebox products we have seen in the past. This cream retails for about $40!

I will definitely keep this product and use it during the winter months! They do have many other products of the same Anti-pollution/ Bee line range (click pic at the bottom to access page) and I won’t mind getting them at all in future boxes.

The Migabee pore set seems to be the Blackheads Out box spoiler. I didn’t get that one, but envy those who did! This one is at least worth $18.

Next product is the spoiler product: Cleomee Three-layer Perfume Donkey Oil Mist (100ml, $59). It is also a full-sized item! We have gotten the Cleomee body lotion in the Cafe box and I think Donkey seems to be the IT trend in Korea or at least memebox at the moment. 😛

image

I assure you this smells nothing like donkey. It is a tricolored oil mist that has to be shaken before use. The oil hydrates your skin and provide all the benefits of EGF, donkey milk and more.  It seems that 500ml of donkey milk provides the equivalent nutrition of 30-60kg of cow’s milk!

Check out the ingredients and facts sheet here.

Tosowoong is no longer an unknown brand to us memeaddicts. We have seen many products from them, both skincare and makeup alike. The Platinum Pore Tightening pack (150ml, $19) seems to be quite omg because it claims to contain platinum gold and tea tree oil, but the price is rather affordable.

image

This pack is actually chocolate colored and perfect for those suffering from blackhead troubles. They should have included the printed advert leaflet because the pics are more OMG than the product itself.

I would give this a try if my skin acts up. I suspect this is the product that emits the herbal smell of the box. Maybe its the tea tree oil.

They say you can’t drink and drink but the never say you can’t use a drink to bathe. The On the Body Makgeolli (rice wine) soap (85g, $12) is a pretty OMG product for me, though not too surprising. We are very popular with beers in Czech rep and I have seen many beer-themed bath products here.

image

The soap does not smell too fermented or nasty at the moment. I might need to use it to give a proper review, but I am not a soap person. 😛 Gels ftw!

This brand is produced under LG care (yes, the electronic company) and in case you read Hangul, here’s the company webpage.

This last product is no ordinary one. It is the TonyMoly Delight tint crayon in 06 Neon Pink (2.8g, $8). It claims to glow-in-the-dark under strobes light. The crayon is definitely an OMG to me but I am not much of a party-goer so this might sit in my pouch for awhile before I could test it out.

image

Everything totaled up to a memevalue of $152, and I think this is definitely worth about $70 to me.

image

I think the OMG series has potential, and although they are not always a huge OMG, the products are almost often great and rave-worthy. I would pick up the OMG4 if I have the moolah!

This box cost me less than $30 because I bundled it with the My Cute Wishlist 3 and added on points + codes.

Eyeing this set! ❤

Do check out the other available memeboxes here and use my promo codes. These are good till the end of October I suppose, and gives a discount of $5 off all orders (good for one use each).
