Etude House Color in Liquid Lips review [PK001, PK005, PK008, PP502]

Etude House Color in Liquid Lips is a range I have wanted to try for the longest time. I keep stalking sites and finally hit the purchase button. I thought I needed to chuck out some old lips products and replace them with something new and exciting. 😀

image

This product comes in 20 different shades- from beige to reds and pinks and even violets. I personally adore cooler shades so I picked these to add to my lip arsenal;

image

I have purchased the;

Etude House Color in Liquid Lips – 3.5g No.PK005 Pink In Dolly
Etude House Color in Liquid Lips – 3.5g No.PK001 Pink In Ribbon

Etude House Color in Liquid Lips – 3.5g No.PK008 Pink In Funk
Etude House Color in Liquid Lips – 3.5g No.PP502 Purple In Friday
Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips Talk (Pink Talk) – 3.4g No.PK012 Greed Pink
Etude House Dear My Wish Lips Talk – 3.5g No.PK001

Okay the bottom two are just Etude’s other lipsticks but I just had to repurchase to compare them all. 😛

Here are the swatches on my arm;

These are the ingredients in the shade PK001, but they are pretty similar except for the color and fragrance added;

image

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil Mica (CI 77019) Diisostearyl Malate Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) Dicalcium Phosphate Silica Silylate Stearalkonium Hectorite VP/Hexadecene Copolymer Tridecyl Trimellitate Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate Kaolin Red 28 Lake (CI 45410) Propylene Carbonate Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Diglyceryl Sebacate/Isopalmitate Methyl Hydrogenated Rosinate Sorbitan Isostearate Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate Silica Methicone Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate Tocopheryl Acetate Dehydroacetic Acid Fragrance(Parfum) Red 6 (CI 15850)

Full ingredients list of other shades available here.

From the list above, they did claim that the sweet almond and sunflower seed oil would keep lips smooth and moisturized for long time. I do agree that it is glossier than some lip mousse/tints out there and more forgiving on dry lips, but it does not make chappy lips go away. I still think a lip scrub is necessary because this product is not a lip balm/ gloss and loose bits will show 😦

It’s staying power might be compromised for the sake of moisturization. This liquid lip product fails in that department as it transfers even minutes after application. I use a lip primer underneath to make sure it lasts longer but that didn’t improve too much.

image

The colors rubs off easily even 10 mins after application (above). PK005 (the lightest) seems to be runnier than the rest. Probably the formulation is slightly different.

My advice is to apply the lip color, blot it once with a tissue and reapply– the classic beauty 101 technique. It does last up to 3 hours, but reapplication is not too tedious. I wished it leaves a pretty after-tint after all the food and drinks like it’s sister; the Etude House Blooming Talk in PK001, but it didn’t.

image

However, it does create a gradient lip easily. You can just use your finger tips to spread the color over properly primed/concealed lips. The result is quite beautiful. I have also tried creating a gradient with PP502 on top of PK001 and it’s prettayyy~ ❤

image

Here are my kiss swatches (lol 😛 ) for your imagination on how the actual color is on a white background and the amount it transfers.

You can view the original ad/ Etude’s own swatches here. (and yes, they are abit lighter than how it turned out for me, probably due to the model’s pale lips)

Pricing

Prices around $7-8 are pretty decent, and if you take shipping into consideration, anything under $9 is totally a great bargain. Here are some price comparisons (true at the time this blogpost is published);

Roseroseshop $7.38 + shipping cost
Testerkorea 6650won (~$6.40) + shipping cost
Cosmetic-love $7.95 (free shipping)
Etudehouse.com $9.50 + shipping
Beautynetkorea $9.27 (free shipping)
Ebay seller F2plus1 $8.98 (free shipping)

Well, TTK might have the cheapest price, but the colors I wanted were always out of stock back then and I was slightly frustrated with the wait times.. I got mine from RRS and am very satisfied that I did. 🙂

Pros
Affordable
Easy to apply
Not too drying on the lips
Good color payoff on one swatch
Many delicious shades to choose from

Cons
Staying power leaves alot to be desired..
Color may differ according to its base/ wearer’s lips

I probably will not repurchase unless the other colors strike my fancy because I have enough to last me awhile, and I am looking for other matte liquid lipsticks to try out at the moment. It is quite fun to use and I will recommend at least buying one to try if you love a color pop in your daily FOTD, or suffer from dry lips with no luck finding a cheaper lip mousse/tint sort of product. This might be it. ❤

Testerkorea Haul #3

image

Read my other testerkorea hauls unboxings here and here.

Okay, I have to admit that Testerkorea’s prices are unbeatable for lightweight items (because shipping is taken into account). They might be reselling their free samples for moneys but at least they ain’t taking too much profit from normal priced items. We do receive pack samples (5 foils) for presumably every $30-40 purchase. 🙂

Order date: 24/12/2015
Shipped: 30/12/2015 (but it only left Korea on 14/1 wth Korea post?!)
Received: 20/1/2015

That’s almost a month, but they were probably waiting on one item that had to be ordered from the manufacturer. (read on)

My order this time is a bit larger than the previous two. It is packed to the brim in a squarish box!

image

The shipping costs were 9,670 won via normal air mail so the total came up to 76,380 won (or approx $75).

I shared part of this haul with my cousin since I was over at her place and decided to pull her to the ‘dark side’ aka Korean beauty obsession.

I was most excited to get this: the Iope Air cushion XP refill. Yeah, I’m cheapo like that. I have two other casings and decided that I should just take one in case I don’t like the formulation or something. When I bought this, it costs approx $13- much cheaper than most ebay sellers. 😛

image

I’m excited to test this one out since it is highly raved and so-called the “mother of all cushions”. Stay tuned for a separate review post~

image

Next up is a blusher that keeps going OOS. Yeah, like that Peripera cushy blusher..I gave up. 😦 The A’pieu finger blusher is cute and all, but I didn’t appreciate how cute the size was.

image

Ruler for dimensions

The blusher is a pretty light pink, but too light to be seen under natural lighting. Idk…I’m not loving this much :/

image

Maybe I’ll stick to using my lip tints/ cheek & lip products for a better blush payoff.

I’m also convinced that their 3CE products are genuine. Since the internet is plagued with fake cosmetics from this brand, I was apprehensive to order more.

image

I guess they were waiting on this item for so long before my order could be shipped. It is still in it’s original wrapping with barcode and all. 🙂

YES to purple lippie. ❤ ❤

image

I’d say this is quite worth the wait? The lipstick does make my order 😀 I’m pretty pleased with the color although it might look dark pink-ish under low lights.

I adore how pigmented the Innisfree Creamy Tint Lip Mousse was (got another shade before this) and had to pick a lighter pink (#1) for gradient-making. 😛

image

Be warned though, these highly pigmented lip stuff are often pretty dry on the lips. Chapped lips will show and it won’t be pretty…

image

It is a nice color and quite wearable daily.

Yup, I needed a better lash curler after that disastrous (cheap) one from Y.E.T. That brand is just bleh. Now this is what you call proper. It is the Natural Republic one and comes with an extra silicon replacement. It does not have a spring but you can control the amount of strength nicely.

image

For this price, I totally recommend this curler. 😉

Another two little items from Natural Republic were my hand sanitizers. I’m slightly germophobic so this would always come in handy.

image

The duo was packed into a separate plastic with my blusher, spot patches and etc.

image

They are both super tiny (30ml each) and costs $2 something each. Oh well, at least the divine peach and grape smell makes up for it. I do think drugstore ones would be cheaper but they don’t smell this good.

I’m also having a hand-cream mania moment and had a difficult time eliminating all the 9293713 other hand creams loaded in the cart. The e-choice hand cream is a bit more than $1.50 (only!) and smells exactly of honeydew. Urm..yum?!

image

And did I mention PENGUIN? Oh. ❤

Some beauty tools: Missha makeup sponge (so worth the price!), 2 cushion sponge replacements, Innisfree spray bottle (for more Blithe misting water experiments~) and my staple Missha oil blotter.

image

Okay I didn’t snap individual pics of the Skin Food point makeup remover, Innisfree hydrogel masks, Skin food nose strips etc etc but man, I’m just so glad I got my order already.

Mini Testerkorea Haul #2

So I split my haul in two separate orders to avoid unwanted custom taxes. The first mini haul was reviewed here.

image

I was extremely pleased to see the “fancy goods” appearing at my door~

Here are the details to my order (made from Central Europe);
Order date: Saturday 6/11/2014
Shipped: Wednesday 11/11/2014
Arrived: Wednesday 19/11/2014

Again, the whole process took less than 2 weeks, I’m very impressed! ❤
This haul consists of;

Name Price(won) Qty Total(won)
TOTAL 25,800
[W] SINGABRUG Marbella Tattoo Stamper 2ml 13,300 1 13,300
[W] MEMEBOX It’s My Cushion Pact Set 3 items 7,500 1 7,500
THE SAEM Mint Jungle Foot Peeling 5,000 1 5,000

The shipping cost me 4,760 won only and the total was about $33  (Testerkorea’s conversion $1= 980won).

I was super excited to be getting the MEMEBOX It’s My Cushion Pact Set. I first saw it on Memebox Korea retailing for 5,000krw and this appeared after being requested on the Testerkorea site! 🙂

I put an order through for a white pact but it was a shame to get the black one instead because I have a bunch of white gadgets and makeup cases. However, the CS of Testerkorea responded promptly to my email (within minutes! I must have been in luck), acknowledged the issue after I sent in photos and refunded the full amount to my paypal. 😉 Cheers to the CS team!!

image

It does look quite dear. I love the typographical/minimalistic cover. You do have to peel off the fuzzy protector from the mirror though. It took me a few minutes to pry it. Overall, it might not be as sturdy as some of the expensive pacts out there but this is worth getting for those who have their individual BB formulation!

image

I am thinking of adding my Dr.Jart black label BB cream or the Too Cool for School CC Cinema city (Memebox My Lovely Boutique) into this pack along a drop of Centella ampoule for blemish care + Mizon snail recovery cream gel for improve blendability. We’ll see! 🙂

image

You can get yours here if you like. It is about $7.50 (I think $2.50 is for local shipping) but this is inexpensive compared to the Missha or A’pieu DIY pacts.

Next up;
Marbella Tattoo Stamper 2ml 신가브루크 MARBELLA 워터프루프

I saw this stamper in one of the summer episodes of Get It Beauty and I just have to have it! This costs 13,000krw (cheapest I have seen tbh other than on Memebox Korea on a sale price of 9.800krw?). It is a tad expensive but that is the price of convenience!

image

It is like a jumbo marker, but without the typical marker smell. It smells of nothing strong, really. I was half expecting this to be pungent because it is a tattoo after all. Nope, nothing of that sort.

image

The tip is a stamper with whatever pattern you choose. Currently on TTK there are 4: peace, yinyang, star and heart.

Ingredients list just in case you are afraid of some allergens;

image

This tattoo lasts me about 2 showers. I do think it is not super durable but that is a plus for if you make a mistake in stamping. It comes off with warm water + vigorous rubbing and looks like a real tattoo! ❤

I have always wanted to try The Saem (erm hello GD is their ambassador) but they are often too expensive. I do see an influx of brand new products from them on TTK atm! I chose the Mint Jungle Foot Peeling as it was only around $4!

image

I adore all things mint and hold high hopes for this peeling pack! I will need this in a few weeks’ time *stares down at heels*

image

The ingredients and directions are pretty similar to any foot peels out there.

As usual, TTK does not fail to include some awesome samples (similar to my previous haul) in a mini thank you package.

image

Pros;

– Good and prompt CS
– Free samples!
– Can request products (easy and takes only a day or two)
– Items professionally packed
– Relatively cheap prices
– Site is easy to navigate

Cons;

– Shipping starts at around $4 for me and climbs fast (understandable though)
– Sometimes things go OOS too fast
– I wish they could have more discounts and events 😛

I absolutely recommend Testerkorea and will put another order through once my cart is loaded with all my wishlist items! ❤
