Princess Mail! It’s the Memebox Snow White edition~

image  This box arrived just in time for the first snow here in Central EU. I have always wanted this box for the longest time. I want it not only for the Chosungah Red Essence (yeah, I’m a sucker for their designs) but also the awesome sounding scrub and retarded bunny item! Carry on reading and you’ll see what I mean~ 😉

The Memebox Princess #1 Edition Snow White is one of the Princess series released back in September and shipped early October. Unfortunately this box is already sold out but you can find available boxes here or hope for a restock!

I was all like  (✿◠‿◠) when I went through the box. These are some really useful products and I would say I was surprised at how well-curated this box was! I half-expected some cheap rep lipstick or dark hair dye because Memebox might have thought of giving us (to quote the evil queen): “skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony.”

.

Memebox’s description was true to the box; Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who’s the fairest of them all? You, with the Snow White Box, of course! The cooler months spell for the perfect time to brighten up skin, even out uneven complexions, and target pesky dark spots! Whatever shade of the rainbow your skin color is, optimize your skin’s radiance and clarity for luminous, glowing skin. Now that summer is coming to its end, lay off the bakin’ and pull out our ultra-brightening and super potent Snow White Box! Discover Princess Snow White’s ultimate secret to beautifully bright skin that made her legendary!

Lets go through the contents! ❤

Note: At the bottom of each product review is a pic linked to the Memeshop page for that product. Add it to your wishlist if it is out of stock so that Memebox will know which product is in high demand and restock it accordingly 😉

First up is the really cool red bottle that caught my eye!
Chosungah Original Raw First Essence (Red Essence, 110ml, $26).
Chosungah is one of the brands I introduced few months back and I have been eyeing their products because of how pretty they look! Oddly, this product seem to lack information as it is probably discontinued. However, the packaging makes it worth having!
.
image
It is a flat flask-shaped bottle with a dropper dispenser! Say whaa~
The essence is actually a watery gel-like moisturizer and it smells very much like the Original Raw Black Bubble I received in the previous Moisture Surge Memebox. I was intrigued by the description on the card:  “….enriched with various vitamin nutrients and dragon’s blood extracts from the dragon tree and work to instantly rejuvenate and brighten up the damaged or sagging skin. ”
.
Like he-yo..I’m the dragonborn worthy of dragon blood skincare. Female Skyrim fans rejoice. 😀
.
image
The instructions says to wet a cotton pad with 2~3 drops of First Essence and gently pat it all over your face. I do feel very refreshed after using this. The essence itself is clear and spreads easily. I’m almost certain it also contains aloe as it is super cooling— perfect for sunburnt skin imho!

This Ipsenature 5 Seeds Apple Water Brightening Scrub (80ml, $26) smells like anything but apples. It is a strong herbal sort of scent that took me by surprise completely. I love scrubs, so I don’t mind the ‘medicinal’ smell of this at all.
.
 image
.
Texture wise, this is very pasty and contains bits of what seems to be seeds to me.  Among the listed ingredients are apple water and apricot, raspberry, walnut, rice, and corn seed powders. The scrub is very gentle and promises to ‘gently peel away all dead skin cells and skin impurities and deliver skin replenishing and brightening effects’.
.
.
image
.
I definitely like this better than the Tony Moly morning coffee scrub or a gentle facial brush when my skin acts up. It is great for getting instant results but make sure you don’t scrub too hard and hurt your skin instead! A gentle rub in rounds and massaging your face thoroughly and then rinsing with warm water will give you a brightened, fresh complexion. 😉

Yeah the art on this one is fascinating. A bunny with a human face caricature. Daltokki Whitening Essence (100ml, $35) is a product meant to be mixed into skincare or makeup as an add-on for whitening benefits.
image
.
Instructions: Mix in a drop of the Whitening Essence with a cream, a sunblock, or a BB cream for the effect you desire. Suitable for both facial and body application.
 .
I know this is for mixing, but what if it is used as it is?
image
 .
A small dollop on my hand…
image
 .
And blend.
Whoa.
You can really see a significant whitening effect. I was surprised as I blend it further and it just creates a bright complexion on my skin without leaving a whitish cast! This product is fab to blur out hyperpigmentation. Tip: You can apply a little of the essence on top of a well-moisturized lip to create a gradient lip look (guide here).
 .
I also found other uses for this product;
1. Overnight whitening treatment for knees, elbows and ankles.
2. To mix into a bb cream/ foundation that is a shade too dark.
3. Instant brightening of some areas on the face (contouring) if mixed with a multi balm and applied like a highlighter!

If the previous product is a little heavy for you, this one might interest you!
The Nella Fantasia Oneday Whitener (120ml, $29) is runnier than the previous product and is not sticky at all, so you can use this like a body lotion. In fact, the application is almost silky~ ❤
.
image

Description: It instantly moisturizes and brightens up dry, coarse, and darkened skin tone for a lasting glow all day long.

Honestly, this does not feel like one of those gimmicky Chinese instant whitening products (I’m wary of the adverse effects of those..). There isn’t a strong sunblock-y smell too, which is really nice.
.
image
.
If this would have spf, I think I would liken it to my Shiseido watery sunblock (those are fabulous btw). I would use this to treat my darkened ankles (thanks, summer). Verdict? I love this but I wished it has spf and a nice floral scent. Improve it, Nella Fantasia and I’ll throw my money at you!

The box is not complete if Snow White ends up all fair but with eye bags! This Morningtree Revitalizing Whitening Deep Spot (20ml, $34) is a special whitening and anti-wrinkle product with triple rollers. :O
.
image
.
And we all know how expensive anti-wrinkle/ ‘youth-activating’ beauty items are these days… I may not be in the age range to use this, but better start young because I’m always studying late nights and facing the computer for long hours!
.
image
.
You can see the triple rollers. Its pretty cooling on the skin and acts like a gentle massager for tired eyes. I would recommend using this roller (chilled in the refrigerator) on the face as well to reduce puffiness!
.
image
.
Just squeeze the tube to dispense the product, which is a gel-type essence will soothe, cool, brighten, and repair such dry and darkened spots. The card says this could be use for the pits and busts (lol!) but I don’t think I can handle that ticklish sensation. I’ll keep this for my face and neck, thanks. 😛
.

.
If rolling isn’t enough to improve those wrinkles and darkened bags, you need a backup plan! Luckily Memebox supplied us with the Faceflux Anti-Wrinkle Revitalizing Cream (30g, $38). It contains ceramide, hyaluronic acid, lemon verbena extracts, shea butter and portulaca extracts, perfect for moisturizing, anti-aging and brightening!
.
image
.

This product also does not have a particular scent to it. It is a rather smooth cream-gel. Once applied to the back of my hand, I can see instant moisturizing effect as the fine lines blur out.
image
This product might need a little longer to actually produce effect but I am sure it is great to boost the skin’s hydration instantly!

The 6 products in this box impresses me. I can’t pick out a HG yet, but the total value of this one is impeccable- $188!
image
I will use these over the course of the next months by slowly swapping out my skincare routine and adding in those whiteners to aid areas that needs a little de-pigmentation. I think Snow would be happy with these. I’m pretty pleased myself. 🙂

Get moisturized with Memebox Moisture Surge ~

image

I have never been this excited. The Moisture Surge Memebox was released alongside with the Memepouch (which I will review later) and I thought to myself that I need to grab this box since it is always cold and dry in central Europe. I was glad I did.

I got this Memebox by using the $50 memepoints I won in the #howdoyoumemebox Instagram contest ages ago. Thats how I paid nothing for this value set of 2 boxes + shipping!! Lucky me~~ *tears of joy*

Right off the bet, 6 products, almost all are full-sized. ANDDDD one deluxe sample set by Chosungah! LOVE.

Info-card;

image

♥♥♥♥♥

I will start off with my favorite;
The original raw deluxe kit ver 3.0 (3 x 30ml, $60).
Sorry memebox, but $60 is a fairytale price because I saw this on some other site for a fraction of that price.

image

I have always loved Chosungah for their beautifully designed packaging. I raved about this in another post about new, upcoming brands in Korea.

image

This kit contains 3 items;

1. Black Bubble- a black cleanser that helps expel impurities by creating fine bubbles. Take a dime size of this, spread it over the face and wait for 5 seconds before massaging and rinsing it off.

2. Chan Mool Patting Essence– a tangly, jelly-like essence that helps brighten, moisturize and tighten the skin. Sounds fab and a lot simpler than the Blithe one which is my current fav.

3. Water Block Black Jam- This claims to hydrate for up to 48 hours (whoa, sounds potent!) and you may use it as an overnight mask as well.

image

I think I will keep this and try all of it! I do wish to see more Chosungah in my memeboxes to come, and I was utterly jealous of the Koreans to get their cheek blush in an earlier box.

Be sure to check out their site! Oh, eye candies..but the shipping will obliterate you. Consider yourself warned.

♥♥♥♥♥

The next product is the insobeau Hiaromax Vitamin Stick (10g, $29) and you have to agree with me that this is an interesting item. It is a balm type moisturizer for dry areas of the face!

image

I have given this a go and I quite like it. It smells strongly like…..repellent(?) but tolerable in the name of beauty lol. You may apply this before or after makeup. I put this on my desk and use it when I have to work on my computer all day. It’s savvy and convenient– just glide it over dry patches and viola. The stick is also cooling, so thats a plus!

image

The tube has about 2.5cm of product, and you can see that I have used up quite abit. Though I don’t think the vitamin stick does anything wow, it is handy for anyone who doesn’t like to walk all the way to get a moisturizer. It is portable and fits into any handbag. I can see myself using this on long-haul flights too!

♥♥♥♥♥

I love mists and was stoked to see the Dermahouse Aloe Moisture Mist (120ml, $14) in this box.
I don’t have to do a spritz test photo because this is as standard as a mist can get. It moisturizes pretty well I’d say, and is great for sensitive skin too!

image

The mist smells subtly floral and dries out to leave a slight sheen. I love it, and I think I will use this to manufacture more of my own Blithe Misting water lol.

♥♥♥♥♥

The Rosemoon Rich 53% Collagen smart balm (50ml, $47) is a no-nonsense product judging by its packaging. On the first whiff, it does smell alot like collagen– the smell of pig skin, if you know what I mean. It promises to hydrate, strengthen and protect the skin.

image

You can use this as the last stage of your routine skincare and leave it overnight for that super soft, moist skin. It does contain many plant extracts and  honey, royal jelly, plus beeswax. I love the sound of this already!

image

This is fantastic for winter months. I would use this as my night moisturizer and see how it goes.

♥♥♥♥♥

Wish Formula Premium Ample Mask ($14) is great against wrinkles and dryness.

image

Like any other masks, you would leave this on for 15-20 minutes and pat the remaining essence after for full absorbance.

image

I like that they included the ingredients in English. This product goes to my mum! I’ll report if she would look youthful after using this.

♥♥♥♥♥

The last product in this pack is the imface Vio-Xellose Neck Patch (10ml, $5) and it is a neck mask with coconut jelly texture. It is also used to treat aging neckline and is free of harmful chemicals like paraben, benzophenone, sulfate and other artificial additives.

image

This one has to be left a little longer- 20-30mins. I don’t personally enjoy neck masks because they are too cold for my throat and it feels like I’m constantly wearing an uncomfortable collar…

image

Again, mum will be my trashcan inheritor. I think neck masks, v-line sling thing and hair packs are an IT thing in Korea right now. I am too lazy to be bothered..and I would prefer using the previous collagen product instead of this. :X

♥♥♥♥♥

6 different products all together, and they totaled up to a memevalue of $169 (wow seriously?). I personally would put a price tag of $80 on this box. I don’t mind this box, considering the variety it has. While it did not turn out to be a wow, it does deliver what it promises.

image

Do check out the other available memeboxes here and use my promo codes. These are good till the end of October ’14 I suppose, and gives a discount of $5 off all orders (good for one use each).

Newer Korean Brands

I would like to call these brands indie brands, but they are not exactly that since some of them are already really famous in Korea and has been established more than 10 years ago.

The thing is, since the giant companies like Amore Pacific and Enprani has their roots embedded deep into the Korean skincare scene, it became really tough for other smaller companies to debut. They have to come up with all sorts of innovative ideas and gimmicks to create hype and market.

I am glad that memebox included some really unheard of brands to their inventory, because that way we can get a proper introduction and not just stick to traditional drugstore brands. Sometimes I do wish memebox would try to acquire the bestsellers of these newer brands *coughnotjustsoapscough*.

Anyways, lets take a look at some of the brands!

❈          ❈

DRWW

The brand drww was just launched last year in Korea. It is a brand well-known because of the founder, Kim Yoo-jin (or better known as Eugene) who hosted the first season of Get It Beauty— a show that showcases makeup, skincare and talents of the beauty gurus.

Eugene is one of my favourite actress ever and she looks gorgeous, you have to agree with me. 😛

We saw memebox include the Actigen multi smart cream gel (memebox #10) and drww Mix & Match (Superbox 5). I am immensely loving the actigen cream as it makes my skin smooth and dewy without being oily or sticky…and it smells heavenly! Sadly, I can’t find it anywhere on the net.

I also couldn’t find the official site, but in case you are interested about the lines they offer, here is a Korean home-shopping site with most of the products.

❈          ❈

Caolion

Established in 1995, with the motto of Nature Poem, Caolion seems to be very much about their skin-care rather than makeups.

Caolion reminds me alot of brands like Nature Republic and Skinfood probably because of their sleek packaging and very nature oriented products. Their bestsellers seems to be the pore packs (featured above).

Memebox introduced us to this brand by including their Mool Pool cleanser (memebox #10 and minibox #2). I have not given it a go because of my overloading on cleansers at the moment…

I like that their target audience is the family, and not just specific people like the working women or teenager. It seems like a fresh new concept they can run with.

❈          ❈

Chosungah22

This brand is super hip! Just look at the website. Thank god its in English. It is like a totally different brand compared to the previous 2 (well silly, of course it is). Chosungah is actually the name of an infamous makeup artist in Korea.

I am not sure if they ship everywhere, but they did say EMS on their English webpage. The prices of their products aren’t too steep either..probably something like NARS and Laura Mercier.

Loving the look of the products and it is the one makeup brand I really want to try besides Stylenanda’s 3CE and Too Cool For School.

I think memebox included Chosungah Tangle into Nakedbox #16 and the blusher above into it’s Korean memebox. Not sure if there were others..

Chosungah is not fooling around with their funky and yet practical packaging. Coincidently I am almost in my 22s, so I guess this might just be my favourite. I am waiting for this to hit the European market!

❈          ❈

Karadium

Karadium is mostly about their makeup. Their selling point seems to be the fact that they actually include flower extracts, etc into their products and a fresh, vibrant image. Does anyone think their packaging looks very much like Anna Sui’s? -Lots of butterflies and pinks.

Memebox included the On The Top mascara (superbox #2) and a few other things from Karadium into the memeshop.

❈          ❈

Makeon

Tosowoong Makeon has the very typical Korean brand balance between skincare and makeup. The brand first debut globally in 2004 and is now quite famous with their best-selling Crystal Intensive whitening cream and Makeon Princess liners (featured in memebox).

I would like to say more about them, but perhaps if you could read more Korean than me, you would understand what was written here. Time for improvement!

Memebox also included the Chok Chok (meaning squishy) Makeon CC Cushion into the Superbox 2.

Maybe we can try their skincare in future boxes?

❈          ❈

Lanoa

Lanoa is a brand that focuses on natural ingredients. Just look at how many natural stuff that went into this?? They are definitely serious about their soap, okay. Unfortunately we only get to try the sulphur soap on memebox so far (and it was repeated in several boxes).

Their other selling point seems to be EGF. Have you heard of EGF? It actually stands for Epidermal Growth Factor— a factor needed for our skin to regenerate. It sounds fantastic, but the effectivity and side effects have yet to be proven.

❈          ❈

With South Korea being more and more obsessed with beauty and perfection, more companies are sprouting like mushrooms after the rain. I guess it is only for the betterment of my skin. Have you tried any other new brands and did you find a holy grail product?
