Best Beauty Forward Memebox

image

This is my second to last Memebox perhaps. I was intrigued by the description of it being curated by Memebox’s ‘beauty experts’ (and they even promised it to be a bunch of winning products). Okay….

Let’s dive into the Best Beauty Forward Memebox to see if it lives up to the expectations.

Info card (front and back);

image

image

At first glance, I saw at least 2 products I am keen about; the galactomyces essence and peeling body scrub. ❤

The Ferfree Ultra Facial Intense Hydration Cream (50ml, $16) looks like a green version of Kiehl’s or something. The packaging could be more original but well, if the product works..

image

This cream claims to be an ‘oasis in the dessert for skin’ and contain olive oil and squalene for protective hydration. It can be used as a day or night cream according to personal preference.

image

The cream has a slight fragrance to it and absorbs pretty well. I have not dived into it long enough, but it does hydrate my skin nicely. Perhaps this will substitute my SNT Goddess cream after that tub runs out. I do enjoy how cooling my skin gets after using this. It is not a bad moisturizer at all! 🙂

Many were upset upon seeing this W.Lab 3P+ CO2 Pore Crown Pack (sample, $26?) because one-use products don’t seem to be a hit among the meme crowd. I would not prematurely conclude this as a bad item because I have not tried it personally. Who knows, it could be miraculous.

image

I know the Air Laynic pore (also a one-use from memebox) was HG for several ladies on FB. This one has a fizzy carbonated formula that gets into the pore to remove the gunk. It also exfoliates dead skin and soothe the skin. I’m not even mad, that is amazing~ 😛

image

There is just a really, really long list of ingredients on it. I will reserve this to after my job interview so to not potentially walk in with a hot, flushing face. 😀

I am pretty pleased with the Rimbi Powerful Treatment Essence (125ml, $34) because it could be my alternative to the infamous SK-II essence or IOPE bioconditioning essence. Sign me up for trial any day! 🙂

image

So far, it has been very gentle on my skin and it does moisturize my skin very well after cleansing. I use this after toning and my face plumps up nicely. I guess essences would need a few weeks to yield results so I shall be patient. Please work! 😀

The SecretKey Perfume Peeling Bodu Scrub (200g, $24) isn’t really perfumed. I got the no.2 Clean & Soft variation perhaps, which explains why it didn’t smell amazing. I would have loved to receive the Fun & Fruity one instead. 😦

image

That said, the product itself if pretty nice. It is a semi-lucent gel that forms globules when massaged onto skin. I made a mistake thinking that it is a scrub and used it on damp skin in the shower. That did not work at all lol. 😛 This is a peeling gel similar to Mizon’s peeling gel or The Tang Tang’s peeling for face– except this is for the body. I recommend using this on dry skin and leaving it for several seconds before massaging it to scrub off the dead skin. I do like this product, although not enough to repurchase it for myself…

Next up is the SUR Nail Polish in Noblesse Purple (10ml $5) which I am glad to have gotten in stead of the red or gold ones.

image

It has a nice lavender color and applies nicely. Downside? It took too long to dry and got ruined because I can’t sit still and keep my hands stationary for more than 10 mins. 😦 I’ll stick to Rimmel’s fast dry polishes instead. Tyvm..

This is a product that I have received a couple of times before from previous boxes, and from other online shops. It is the TonyMoly’s Delight Tony Tint in red (sample, $4). I can’t say I love or hate it. It is just a product that I don’t mind having but don’t need either.

image

Maybe anyone who is into the Korean gradient lip will appreciate this. I do like how easy it is to apply this and it tastes like cherry juice.

Anyone else realize how much Koreans are venturing into more Westernized designs? Idk how this is a good strategy but the Virgin Farms Double Care Fresh Gel and Cream pouches could be fantastic. The brand is made in Korea btw.

image

It says to target blemishes, mild acne, redness, dryness and sensitive skin. The whole description sounds very convincing and I would personally try it and report back when I can.

image

It is also free of synthetic ingredients, which can be a bonus. 🙂

I love the Rimbi Galactomyces essence so far, and enjoyed the Secret Key body peeling and Ferfree cream. The rest needs a little more exploring perhaps. In regards to whether this box is the Best Beauty Forward curation, I would say no. Sorry..I can name 6 other products that could possibly make the box. Although it is worth buying, it didn’t quite make me go wow..

You can still get Memebox if you are in USA. China or Korea. I hope you’ve enjoyed my review on this box. Do drop me a question on the comment box if any. 😉

ve lo

I finally got the The Korea’s Most Wanted 2 Memebox! :D

So Memebox is finally breaking up with us global customers. They are still resuming sales to Korea, China and USA though. I am sad– we all are, but life has to go on. Before the breakup happened, I got myself this box: The Korea’s Most Wanted 2 during the restock-and-review event. I paid $35.99 upfront and decided to grab this and do a proper review on it. After all, I adored the first edition of the Korea’s Most Wanted Memebox (that one is stellar btw).

I had to forego this months ago when it was released because of my tight student budget…but here it is now 😀

Elroel’s Tone Up Starter Sungel SPF 50+ PA+++ (50ml, $43) is something I really need for the longest time. It is a green sungel that can double as a starter and a screen protector. Theoretically it sounds perfect: SPF 50, gel, brightens and moisturize? Sign me up, thanks.

image

I don’t think it looks like a gel at all upon the swatch though…Okay perhaps I put a little too much to demonstrate. And the outlet was stuck with hardened bits of sunscreen. :/

image

The smell is totally like those generic sunscreens out there and texture wise it is kinda heavy… 😦

image

I might use this sparingly on my neck and arms but it isn’t for my face. I will stick to liquid sunscreens and heavier spf bb creams like Hanskin.

Hiello – Blooming Multi Firming Cream (50ml, $50) smells really nice, but I can’t immediately pick up roses at all. Description says it is formulated with blends of poppy, vitamin, collagen, green tea water, Damascus rose water and centella asiatica– one of my fav ingredients in any product, everr.

image

It does feel more expensive as compared to other creams out there in plastic tubs and flimsy lids. Bonus points! Mine also will expire in April of 2016, so I can use it up slowly 😀

Other ingredients, in case you are curious;

image

I don’t normally like firming creams because they tend to be heavy, but I adore this one! ❤

image image

It does feel more like a light creamy lotion. Upon blending, it disperses into a gel-like texture and absorbs very well. My skin definitely feels plumper and more moist. I’m loving it so far and I think this makes a wonderful night cream or even a daily moisturizer in the winter.

The Tang Tang Kissy Skin Therapy Peeling Wash (100ml, $23) is refreshing to have in a Memebox. All the cleanser, moisturizer and masks– I needed more peeling stuff! I’m glad to get to try this one though because I stalked the Memebox sister site and saw that it had a good rating on it.

image

“The Tang Tang” is such a cute name for a brand and I only wished someone would design a cute packaging befitting its name.

image

The peeling wash dispenses as a gel and (I know the description says to let it harden for 40 seconds but…) immediately you can massage and feel the globules forming! It does not smell of anything in particular and it reminds me of some of those Japanese/Taiwanese peeling gels I have tried in the past.

image

I love it! It doesn’t feel too harsh on the skin. I know for sure those globules are not my dead skin, but it does exfoliate pretty well. After washing, my skin feels soft and clear. Pretty happy with it. 😀

Kskin Emu Leg R-Free Massage Cream (100ml, $46) contains all the quirky stuff in it. Erm… emu oil?? It reminds me of those herb vendors/Chinese acupuncturists in Asia. If you are familiar with Tiger balm, you would probably know what I am saying… I was half expecting it to smell that way but it doesn’t!

image

Hangul instructions, ingredients and stuff.

image

If you tried the Elizavecca one from Memebox #16 and didn’t like the strong menthol smell, this might be a better alternative. It is a clear gel formula that spreads like water and feel cooling on the skin without being too overpowering! ❤

I am soooo keeping this one for summer after a long day out walking under the hot sun. Just the perfect body gel I need!

(this box is seriously doing well so far! 😀 —well except the dud sungel..)

LadyKin One Touch Bling Glow Lipstick (3.5g, $11) is the sole makeup product in this box. It was also the first thing I checked out once I unpacked the Memebox. Hello Deep Plum Burgundy!! My wish came true~ (T ▽ T)o

image

There is just a 50-50 chance of me ever getting the shade/selection I want for my Memeboxes but this is such a pleasant surprise. I definitely did not want that fall rose or chic red.

image

On swatch under natural light, it does seem a little lighter than expected. (Photo above shows two strokes) It does not build up too much but I’m okay with that.

image

Formula wise it is pretty smooth to apply. One small flaw is that it does not stay for long. *sigh* I know, I know…it doesn’t claim to be waterproof or anything but having chronic polydypsia, I would love it if my lippies would stay put. Okay I will just reapply any time. This one is a keeper for now.

The Face Shop Calendula Eden Essential Moisture Essence (35ml, $9) would be something I wouldn’t pick for myself at The Face Shop but am happy to get because I just ran out of my essence (A-true White Snow Tea Brilliant Essence; check it out, it’s quite fab). Calendula is a type of flower (aka marigold) and it smells really clean: almost of clean hotel sheets.

image

Sealed for freshness! 🙂

image

Mine expires in 2017- proving how amazing Memebox is as their products are almost 98% fresh. True story.

image

Germaphobe me thanks you, The Face Shop, for hygienic pumps. 😀

image image

Verdict? I like it. It is a really basic creamy essence- a tad lighter than my previous A-true one. I like how easily it absorbs into my skin. It also did not cause any breakouts or anything after using it day and night (even under my makeup). I will continue to use this in my routine.

My favourite product from this box are the Hiello Blooming Multi Firming Cream and Kskin Emu Leg R-Free (what the hell does R-free even mean 😛 ) Massage Cream. ❤ The sungel did not perform as well as I thought it would and the Ladykin Lipstick was a tad less pigmented than preferred.

image

Total memevalue came up to $182 and that is just insane. Okay, maybe they did jack up the value a tad, but I think it does come up to $80 bucks all in all (I checked their RRP on a Korean portal). I’m pretty pleased with everything in this box and i think Koreans might actually like these. 🙂
